January marks the start of the fourth year of South West Silents and we are thrilled to offer you an even wider variety of silent film events throughout the country. Our mission, as always, is very simple. Showcase films from the silent era on the big screen with the best film prints and restorations as well as the best live music from the best pianists and silent film accompanists the UK can offer.
Below you will find the first key line up for early 2019 including our regular monthly events situated at the Cube Cinema, Bristol as well as dates for our totally free SWS Club Screenings at the screening room upstairs in the Lansdown Pub, Bristol.
2019 also marks a first for us as well, our very own UK Premiere! Lobster Films, Paris have done a fantastic brand new Technicolor restoration of Cecil B. Demille’s epic King of Kings (1927) which we will be premiering at Bristol Cathedral on Thursday 11th April with live music by David Bednall.
We are happy to say that we will be continuing our events involving our friends at Borderlines Film Festival, Cinema Rediscovered Film Festival, Bristol Festival of Ideas, Bath Film, Curzon Cinema & Arts, Bristol Museum, Watershed and No6 Cinema, Portsmouth as well as a number of new names later on this year; watch this space. And don’t forget that Slapstick 2019 is just around the corner.
As always, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for regular updates on what we have coming up throughout 2019.
