About the Event
As part of the BFI’s Cinema Unbound: The Creative Worlds of Powell and Pressburger season, Hull Noir, Hull Libraries and Film Noir UK host a special event looking at the life and work of Emeric Pressburger (1902-1988).

Writer, Nick Triplow, film historian Ian Christie, and broadcaster and writer, Matthew Sweet, discuss Pressburger’s incredible film work (The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death, The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus) and his journey into noir writing with his 1966 novel, The Glass Pearls.
After the discussion, there will be a rare screening of Lawrence Huntington’s Brit Noir Wanted for Murder (1946) starring Eric Portman, written by Pressburger.
